Released Documentary Of Homer, Father Of The Creator of ‘Simpsons’
For the fanatical Simpsons is not new that the creator Matt Groening was inspired by members of his own family to the series. But a surprise is that his father, Homer , was a great comedian and filmmaker.
The pseudo-documentary of his own called ‘Basic Brown, Basic Blue ” and was released in 1969 but has only now been released on the Internet. The Academic Film Archive of North America described the short and posted on Archive.org :
“Ever wonder how Matt Groening of” The Simpsons “won its quirky sense of humor? Probably filmmaker with his father, Homer Groening, who died in 1996.
Although known for his documentaries, Homer Groening directed and narrated this film, ostensibly about color, but packed with a continuous series of bathing beauties in bikinis. Perhaps the film is best viewed as an artifact that will interest historians chart the media seeking a further understanding about factors that influenced the cartoonist. “
