The plastics industry generates each year hundreds of billions of dollars. All industries in the world today depends on plastic. The amount of plastic we’ve produced since the invention would be sufficient to cover the whole world six times. But the substance and economic practice comes with a hefty price. Plastic remains in soil and water to 500 years. It is found on all beaches in the world. Numerous studies have shown that chemicals released (such as bisphenol A) migrate to the human body and can cause or contribute to serious health problems, allergies to obesity to infertility, cancer and heart disease.
For Austrian German director Werner Boote, plastic is personal. His grandfather was one of the early Manufacturers of plastic and presented it as a young Boote and a magical substance that changes the world. Many years later, when reading the global threat of plastic, he decided to start a search to find the truth about this ubiquitous substance. Travelling in fourteen countries, courage and humor among builders, scientists, government officials and consumer issues that affect us all: Why we can not change consumer behavior? Because the industry does not react the apparent dangers? Who is responsible for the installation of trash in the desert hills and the sea? Who will win this match? And who loses?
